Bank customers in Agartala will find branches closed on Saturday, October 17, 2026, for Maha Saptami, according to the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday calendar. This closure is specific to Agartala’s banking center and does not extend to branches in other regions, as the holiday calendar reflects localized observances based on regional festivals and traditions, ensuring that each center adheres to its community’s cultural practices. The RBI’s October 2026 calendar does not list a festival-related holiday for other major banking centres, including New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata.

The RBI calendar does not mark October 17 as a bank holiday for 33 banking centres, including Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Itanagar, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Nagpur, Panaji, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram and Vijayawada. These branches are expected to operate under regular Saturday hours, pending any local notifications that might adjust their schedules, as the absence of a festival-related holiday allows standard operations to continue.

October 17 falls on the third Saturday of the month. The RBI specifies that scheduled and non-scheduled banks observe public holidays on the second and fourth Saturdays, making the date an irregular closure rather than a routine one. The next scheduled Saturday holiday occurs on October 24, the fourth Saturday, as per the RBI’s regular monthly schedule for bank closures, providing a predictable pattern for customers planning their visits.

Banks will also remain closed on Sunday, October 18, as part of their standard weekly holiday. While branch operations are affected, digital banking services typically remain available during these closures. Mobile banking, internet banking and online fund transfers are typically accessible, subject to service availability, allowing customers to conduct transactions without visiting a branch. ATMs may continue functioning, though cash availability can vary depending on the specific location and time of day. Customers requiring in-person assistance should confirm their local branch’s schedule before visiting.
